About Us

About TARA House

Tara House is a proudly Namibian boutique-sized elementary school, accommodating children from Grades 0 to 6 in our lower & upper elementary environments. Special attention is given to the holistic, overall development of the child; every child’s place in the bigger system; and fostering a natural love for learning.

We are fortunate to have an amazing group of teachers. Every child’s success is guided by these educators, and we are very proud of the dynamic team that we have at Tara House. Tara House also makes use of other specialists in their fields who have become part of the school’s family and framework. These specialised individuals serve a unique gap in helping to custom design a new school system for our Namibian children.

Outside play area

We believe in a child-centered approach within a modern and forward-thinking learning environment. We also believe that children must take responsibility for their learning and learn independence within today’s society.

Modern Learning Environment

Tara House offers a modern learning environment, by using the best of our current traditional Namibian educational system; the Montessori equipment as our concrete learning aid; Cambridge International curriculum & syllabus, as well as a holistic approach through the design of our 5 “Learning Branches” in a specially designed childhood developmental centre.

Unique Educational Method

Our unique educational method helps children identify their strengths instead of letting them all follow the same route. Our learning branches divide our school’s environment into 5 sections: Academic, Culture, Sports, Play, and Science & Technology.

Focus on Individuality

We put focus on individuality; smaller class sizes (18 children per grade), transparent parent-teacher communications, and happy children who foster a love of learning.

Combination of Systems

We bridge the concrete Montessori equipment with the abstract application, (Cambridge) that is expected in today’s learning environments, allowing the child to understand the interconnectedness of what they are learning.

Importance of the Play Branch

We emphasise the Play Branch in our lower elementary environment, allowing children to still be children, learning through playing and not losing those vital components of a beautiful and short absorbent chapter we call childhood.
